Nagada
One of the most fun elements of any Study Tour is finding out which photographs
have come out and whether they are are you originally thought you'd taken them.
This time was no exception.

I had taken a new digital camera as well as my usual slides and still photographs. Digital cameras are all very well but most of them suffer from one serious problem, not being able to see the photograph in the back screen. With bright sunshine streaming across the sites, many photographs were point, take and hope. Sometimes though it was possible to see what you were doing - but that doesn't mean to say the photograph itself was as you had thought it would have been. Nagada was a case in point. Nothing would have stopped a scramble up to the Thutmosid tombs but .... was one of my students inviting me to a permanent residence or was she simply pointing out a hole (burial chamber) in the ground? Fortunately I may never know!
