Gaddis by the Winter Palace was all closed up (at about 11am). I suppose that they are observing Easter. But Aboudi was open. As usual there was much to tempt me, but I settled on one book: Bagnall, Roger S. and Rathbone, Dominic W. (2004) Egypt from Alexander to the Copts. Cairo: American University Press.
In the evening we had a leaving party at the Rest House. An Egyptian who spends half the year in Australia is flying out on Monday. The food had just arrived when the power was cut for half an hour. Two torches were mustered, and we soldiered on. Of course the illumination on the mountains was not affected ... and we managed to control the distribution of the JWRL (Egyptian Tea)
