Egypt from Potsherds to Incense Trees
Almost uniquely in ancient history tomb reliefs, models, ostraca, texts and of course the archaeology itself provide a wealth of information about life in ancient Egypt. From ancient toolkits which not only show the kind of life of a hunter-gatherer community, such diverse information can also reveal just how significantly climate change affected ancient peoples. From scenes on tomb walls to a piece of broken pottery a fascinating tapestry of life in ancient Egypt can gradually be pieced together. Experimental archaeology too can reveal surprising insights from the ancient technology shown on tomb walls and demonstrated in little models. Do join us as we explore together some of the fascinating information ‘hidden’ in often well-known images.
