Egypt: The Life and Times of Ramesses the Great
Egypt: The Life and Times of Ramesses the Great
Ramesses the Great is arguably one of the best known pharaohs of ancient Egypt. With the discovery of the king’s body in the Royal Cache, a rich building programme both in Egypt itself and in Nubia, his beautiful Queen Nefertari and the famous Battle of Qadesh, Ramesses II has long been a subject of interest. From the stalemate of Qadesh comes a remarkable peace treaty, the first such treaty in history known from archaeology from both sides of the conflict. Evidence from Egypt’s Delta area has revealed a beautiful new royal city, Pi-Ramesses. From Nubia to the Euphrates, Ramesses II was sovereign of a flourishing country, with a proud and distinguished heritage, still one of the great powers of the ancient world. Come and discover in depth the life and times of Ramesses II and its impact on our understanding of ancient Egypt.
