I spent a while at the RRH (more birdies) and ate at the Hatshepsut cafe on the Nile Bank, just south of Blue Sky. This is not licensed, but the basic food was excellent and I did not notice any mosquitoes. I had a Cheese saled (E£8), Onion Soup (E£7) and Liver Sandwich (L£10). All were good, but I could only manage half of the sandwich - a circular flat bread filled with hot cow's liver, onion and capsicums). Tayeeb killed the rest - not knowing what a liver sandwich was, and appeared to enjoy it!
Somewhere along the way I have missed a day's blog, or have combined two days into one. Today was our final whole day so should be day 13. At last the temperature had dropped, although it still reached about 28°C in the afternoon. Having spent too long on my feet yesterday and expecting long treks through airports tomorrow I decided to take it easy. While Helen spent an hour and a half at Medinet Habu I sat at the Hapy Habou with a can of Stella. The sparrows there nest in the convenient pottery lampshades as seen in a photograph below. Tayeeb wanted a new picture for his business card, so here is my first draft. I'll tinker with it a little and send him some out (if the Egyptian post lets them through. I might even let VistaPrint ship them directly to him. I decided to skip the weekly lecture at the Mummification Museum for health reasons - I still find it hard work getting on and off the motor boats. But Helen went, and said that it was very interesting and very well attended. The topic was The Dig-houses at Thebes. The speaker's website is at http://www.tawy.nl/ and is well worth a visit. Had I not been flying early the next morning I would not have missed this one. I spent a while at the RRH (more birdies) and ate at the Hatshepsut cafe on the Nile Bank, just south of Blue Sky. No blog for yesterday yet! Remember all the wildlife piccys. Remember me to Helen if she's with you. Tell her I wish I'd known earlier you were going out. I could have let her have some bits and pieces for the school.

Sorry - I will start the new blog shortly. I have brought out a load of stationery items for the school. My bag was quite heavy and very full. No, Helen is not here - she had a couple of engagements that she could not change at only 3 hours notice!

I'm not surprised Helen couldn't rearrange at 3 hours notice! Do I dare ask how your course is progressing, or did you ditch it as you said you might?
