well as 7kg hand baggage. Also a meal was included, which was almost edible, and
free soft drinks. There is reasonable legroom on the 737-800 as Egyptair only
has 160 seats (compared with about 190 with Ryanair on the same model).
2 weeks of parking at Heathrow came to only £48 (with my loyalty discount)
The flight left the stand 20 minutes early, and was airborne by the advertised departure time. With a following wind we arrived in Luxor about 45 minutes early!
Then came the dalay - there were about 20 people in the queue in front of us at the only open visa desk. Most of them seemed to be changing money as well as buying visas. By the time we had our visas and had swiftly passed through immigration, all the baggage had been unloaded, and the carousel had stopped rotating!
But Tayeeb was waiting outside the arrival hall, with his brand new Toyota taxi, which is quite a lot larger than his previous Mitsubishi. We got to Hotel Sherezade, in New Qurna, before 11p.m. and were quickly shown to our rooms.
There was a party in the garden, with a five piece live local band, so I sat a long way away and enjoyed a glass of wine. That is my main complaint about EgyptAir - they are dry. :-(
