I don't know what the French are reconstructing at the entrance to the Open Air Museum, but there seems to be only a small amount of original content so far.
A column at the corner of Thutmosis III's arcade has an unusual hieroglyph.
The staircase within the wall of the Hypostyle Hall needs a good clean, and there is an unusual libation scene into a T-shaped container (as seen also at the Meru-aten at Amarna?) on the adjacent wall.
Next, a few pictures of the Temple of Ptah, on the NE enclosure wall. A French team is working here, so I was requested to leave the area, but I've never got this close before.
A few pictures of the Temple of Osiris, on the SE enclosure wall. The guardian and several tourist police were happy to escort us there. The 7 doors of Osiris are unusual. Again, I've never quite made it here before.
Finally, the Nileometer, over by the defunct refreshment area, and the notice board for the Middle Kingdom courtyard that we discussed a few weeks ago. I will put a larger copy on the Moodle site soon.
Karnak was quiet at about 2pm, but heaving by sunset. Wednesday is usually one of the quietest days of the week as the British flights mostly operate on that day. But a very large number of coaches have been coming up on day trips from Hurghada this week.
