After a buffet lunch, we stopped at Edfu, where I negotiated a Caleche for the return visit to the temple for a very good price - £E50. As our mare was in foal we were not driven like the other Egyptian Ferraris but enjoyed a sedate trot. The worst part of the ride was the high step into and out of the carriage.
We then cruised north again, enjoying tea and cake on the sun deck before dark. Once again the rest of the cruise, including the passage through the barrage at Esna, was after dark. After the buffet dinner I skipped Bingo and the Jelabaya party in the Lounge Bar, to complete the journey in peace on the upper deck to the accompaniment of a bottle of wine, very reasonably priced at £E150. We moored alongside six other ships just north of the Luxor bridge. Later another ship moored otside us, blocking any view from the cabin.
