The bee-eaters were playing on the telephone wires, so I took a few pictures. Unfortunately i was shooting into the sun, so there is not much colour. I also took a few of the mountains. The mosque has been repainted recently - its blue dome looks good. Many people climb the hill to it during the festival of the saint.
The last couple are of another policeman from Medinet Habu, posing with some of our empties. He was off duty and not in uniform.
I took a couple of pictures of the ruined temple on the hill to the east of Deir el-Medina. I have often wondered about this, as I have never seen a description of it. The sun being at a favourable hight I was able to spot some detail when viewed from my table at RRH. Samari arrived and volunteered to take my camera up there for some close-ups. He set off on his motorbike and ignored the protests from the guards and police at Deir el-Medina, riding to near the top of the hill. Here follow my first detailed pictures of the Temple of Sidi Mara'i. I rewarded him with a Stella. He is a very useful friend - those shoes were worth it!
I have since looked on the Internet for any details or pictures of this temple. There are none! Maybe somebody has a picture from a balloon?
