So I was surprised when a slice of something panee arrived, on a plate of pasta. One incision confirmed my opinion that this was turkey, or maybe chicken, and I informed the waiter. Tayeb, of course, ate his plateful anyway. A few minutes later a large casserole arrived, with fries and rice. The camel liver was thinly sliced and cooked while retaining its shape and texture. I did not leave the table until all the meat had gone. It was really good.
The chef was in danger of being dismissed for serving the wrong food, but I interceded on his behalf. At least it meant that I could eat my salad starter before my main course arrived.
