One of my breakfast cats (I have 3 who beg for bread every morning, especially if it has cheese, butter, egg, jam or honey on it) decided to rest afterwards, in the shade of my walking stick.
I did not catch any birds on the hibiscus. They were around, but too quick for me. The birds down by the Nile were also largely absent. Progress on the new boat has progressed. They are fitting out the interior, involving much wood and buckets of paint.
Emely is alone again. All cruise boats that are not in use, and are not grounded, are required to moor up away from the city.
The Central Bank of Egypt was still producing Le1 notes (now worth less than 5p) in June this year as seen in this near-mint example.
I dined up at Mohamed (with the tree), next to Pharaohs Hotel, behind the ticket office. A lot of work has been done here - the entrance path has been smoother, the outdoor dining area has been cleaned and tidied. The food was exceptionally good - I've had problems there in the past. The salad was crisp and fresh - sliced tomato, cucumber, green pepper, red cabbage and grated carrot. The chips were well-cooked in clean oil. The kofta was served as meatballs in a vegetable stew - peas, carrots and onions in a thick brown gravy rather than the tomato-based sauce served elsewhere. And the wind did not blow desert sand in until I had finished all the food. Stella and soft drinks were available. Congratulations to the chef. I will return.
