It appears that my humour yesterday was lost on some readers. Blue Sky is growing a single stem of barley in a paint-pot. My logic then picks and winnows the head, malts the barley, adds some liquor (brewing term for water), a hop (if one can be found). Pitches some yeast and ferments. I calculate that this would make a wine-glass of bitter beer, or one could then distil it to make a small tot of whiskey.
A better route might be to harvest the barley, plant it out next season and then have maybe 50 or 100 stems of barley to make a slightly large batch. Micro-brewery may be too large a word. think pica- or nano-brewery?.
If it turns out that the stem is wheat rather than barley then a wheat-beer could be made, or maybe a very small bread roll?
