The new sandal has returned from its maiden voyage and receives some modifications below decks. The battens looked quite substantial - about a dozen in 2 sizes, and the large boards were much thicker than the ply or hardboard used earlier in the year.
A felluca with a novice crew got into trouble on the sand-bar. They did not have the brains to drop sail, and instead spent half an hour attempting to manouevre the cumbersome beast downstream, while what little breeze there was was opposing them. They eventually accepted a tow from a motorboat to get to the other bank.
Lucky, the dog that seems to be attached to Blue Sky, went for a paddle out to the gezira and back. Well, at about 5pm it was still sunny out there.
I still struggle to capture the small birds in the shrubbery, but sooner or later I'll get another good shot.
A large group of tourists came into Blue Sky, took some photographs and then wandered off again. I'm sure that the staff could have arranged a table for 24, but would it have been worth it for the sale of a few chais?
