Once in Terminal 2 the check-in, bag-drop, passport and security were very quickly dealt with. The gate this time was B38 - not quite at the far end of the Queens Building, but I was grateful for a ride on a buggy! We departed a bit late, just after midnight (Egyptian Time - saves me writing a separate blog entry for yesterday!). The plane was 90% full but I managed to get a row of three seats to myself. Arrived on time at 0420. took 15 minutes to disembark to a coach for the long trip to Arrivals. Why they don't use the air bridges when they are available is a mystery. I am sure that someone will call the Security card, but ...
Woke up the security man at passport check on transfers to Domestic. He took a while to wake up, and then to correctly recognise, confirm and stamp my visa. I think I was his only customer! I arrived at the departure gate in good time. The 0600 was to be mainly full of school kids of about 12-13ish.
I was given assisted boarding along with an old Egyptian lady in a wheelchair - saved me from climbing up and down a few steps, and I was very grateful. Again I had a free row of 2 seats at the back of the small plane, so I chose the RH window in the hope of a good view. It was a bright clear morning, at least by Cairo standards. I suppose the holidays had reduced the smog? Yesterday was the "sniffing of the breeze" and Easter Monday.
The old lady became very ill on the flight. A doctor was found and oxygen, CPR, etc administered. I did not get assisted deplaning in Luxor - it would have been churlish to ask. Struggled through to International arrivals - only one other customer, but they checked our bags. ATMs at the airport declined my plastic, so a trip to a bank will be needed soon. Tayib was waiting, and I was at Sheherazade by 0815. Spent the morning catching up on some sleep.
