But the bus was 40 minutes late (at least we have a timing board at my local stop so I knew that I hadn't missed it.
And the kitchen at The Postal Order was closed, so no lunch.
The 1628 from Worcester Foregate Street was on time throughout, but the reservation system was broken and the train had only 4-5 coaches, not the full 9-10 for an HST. Not a problem until we got to Oxford, but then it was chockka!
The 1845 coach from Reading to Heathrow was on time and dropped me at Terminal 2. Because I had requested a wheelchair (for the golf-buggy ride to the gate) I had to check in at the desk, thus avoiding the queue at the baggage drop area. At this point I overtook Helen, who had been on the previous train from Worcester!
I got fast-tracked through security with no problem, so could relax for about an hour in The Pride of London (Fullers ESB no longer available on draught. :-)
Flight information was delayed, but we were eventually allocated to gate B44, as usual for the Cairo Flight. The flight was full, even in Business class, and ran about 45 minutes late.
At Cairo Helen dashed off for the 0530 to Luxor while I had time to walk through for the 0755. I should probably have taken the wheelchair, but managed the walk quite well.
Fast tracked through the gate as I was a wheel-chair case: I got to completely jump a very long queue. The flight was 99% full - I had the empty seat beside me!
At Luxor, 10 minutes late, my bag was first onto the carrousel and I convinced customs not to bother with a search. Tayeb was waiting with a borrowed car as his own is still not happy. Helen of course was not happy because she had been waiting an hour and a half in order to share my taxi!
Got to Sheherazade around 10am, and fortunately my room was ready - the previous occupants had checked out early that morning.
No pictures today, and I'm not promising to give a daily blog entry for the entire winter.
