Two Meidum Geese
A Goose and a Temple
One of the great joys on a lovely autumn day is to go up to London. How anyone can't love London is a mystery. Vibrant, always quirky, and definitely frustrating at times, it is just magical. This was a girlie day out. I was on strike. I refused to consider a museum. hmmm.

The Carrer Building restored to its former glory.
Our first stop was the Garden Museum over by Lambeth Palace. No museums! The duck and the temple came by accident. St. James' Park (which we actually lost despite being just round the corner!) is always worth a visit. A gentle meander along the lake towards Buckingham Palace was squirrel heaven. It was though just as we turned back on the opposite side of the lake we saw a flock of five red-breasted geese, the living image of two of the Meidum Geese. The second image of Egypt came somewhere round the back of Euston. I hadn't seen this amazing building and so we broke out journey back to the station. Painted over for many years, this quite incredibly detailed replace of the facade of an ancient Egyptian temple is now restored to its former glory. The only bits missing are the cats' heads from the railings, the logo of the cigarette. Two wonderful black cats still sit disdainedly watching the traffic go by while above them a line of small cats' heads protects the temple facade. Bastet would have been proud.
