The weather was much less sultry than earlier this week, and the wind was fresh to strong.
As WC walked down the aisle at 11am your time a solitary guard in his sentry box outside the cathedral (the Ramesseum was an important Coptic church) put down his rifle, layed down his carpet and said his main friday prayers. No crowds, police or cameras disturbed him!
Several hours later Mohammed adb el-Rassoul arrived and reported that he had viewed the whole thing at home. I thanked him for not bringing a TV into work!
Cutting a long story short, I stayed there all day, chatting to a number of locals and ex-pats.
In the evening, at the hotel, a movie was showing, so I have been effectively nuptual-free!
Tomorrow will be different, when I report from el-Kharga.
