Sindbads and Hamees, the two garden bars in the ground of the Luxor Mena hotel, are being closed next month when the hotel refurbishment gets underway seriously. I've not stopped at Hamees before, but was intrigued by the "pizza strong pork ham", the strong pork ham being apparently mushrooms and artichoke. I'll probably never find out if it is any good as I wasn't hungry at the time.
Today's bird pictures are very poor - the creatures were hiding in thick bushes at the Ramesseum Rest House. Unless anything unusual happens before my flight this afternoon, this will be the last post of this holiday.
Luxor is emptying out today. All the locals, Egyptian and ex-pat, are expecting extremely nasty events on 25th January, the first anniversary of the revolution. I don't like making predictions of doom and gloom, but a full-scale revolution against the armed forces seems a strong possibility. While this will mostly affect Lower Egypt, it will set back tourism even further for many years. This may well have been my last visit to Egypt, but I hope not.
