My 5 times great grandfather on the patrilinear side was William Yare. Other spellings are frequent. But I have 3 possible candidates for the William Yare.
My 4 times great grandfather, Joseph Yare, was baptised at Appleby St. Michael on 31 Jan 1755. No mother's name is given in the register,
1) William Yare married Anne Noble at Appleby St. Michael on 3 Jun 1754. This seems to be the best fit.
2) William Yare married Mary Wilson at Appleby St. Lawrence on 8 Jan 1753. This is the one I was using until today.
3) William Yaire married Agnes Baylie at Middleton-in-Lonsdale on 3 May 1756. I am ruling this one out, but include it here to show the problem of multiple William Yares in a small county in a small period of time. This place is 35km from Appleby.
I have a number of children baptised at Brough-in-Stainmore whose father was William Yare in the between 1755 and 1771. Only Nathaniel Yare, baptized in 1771, has a mother's name given. His mother was Anne.
And if there were 3 William Yares, which one died in Bombay in 1787? He was a surgeon.
I have a number of wills that are quite informative, but have more questions than answers.
