Down at Blue Sky the passing traffic included the dahabiya Mazag, which I have not seen before. The external appearance is strikingly different from other dahabiyas. I think that it was towed to the old public ferry slip on the west bank, which is not quite visible from Blue Sky. I have not been able to locate any more information about this boat on the internet.
In the evening I saw the Dr. He said that it was normal to keep the gypsum cast for 4 to 6 weeks. But he took new x-rays and removed agreed to remove the cast as I must drive home from the airport on Monday. The circular saw used to remove the cast is a bit scary but supposed to be quite safe even if it touches the skin. The cast was quite obstinate, but eventually we got it off. Instead I am supposed to wear a more modern wrist support with velcro fastening - Tayib had to visit several pharmacies to locate the right size.
If anything this new support is even more restricting than the gypsum cast, but it is much lighter. The doctor would probably not approve, but I have satisfied myself that if I am careful I do not need to wear it. So I am now able to use a knife and fork for the first time in nearly a month, and am looking forward to a proper shower!
