There is the possibility that it will be closed again 40 days after the burial, and again on the 1st anniversary. I have marked my diary accordingly. The question is, is that 1 Gregorian or Julian Year of 365 days, or 1 Hijri year of about 354 days?
Anyway, lacking any other plans, I returned to Fayrouz where there were several friends and we ate and chatted our way through to Midnight. The Devlin was of course appreciated. :-)
And for the following 3 days I went early to Fayrouz before dinner at my normal time. I would have gone elsewhere, but the weather is cool and Fayrouz is very sheltered.
The King and Queen of Belgium have been here for a few days, spending a lot of time at several sites, not just the big three. Road closures and large numbers of police vehicles do not please the drivers or tourists. Next week we expect the President of France, so more disruption.
On Friday I was at el-Baeirat for the afternoon. No sign of the friendly kitten but the shy one played with my bag straps. Not much activity on the river, and just one small bird in the garden. It refused to pose. Is it a female Nile Valley Sunbird, or something else? It has a long, curved beak.
I nearly missed sunset at the RRH as a local road was closed by building work and we had to detour through the banana fields behind the el-Baeirat.
