A guardian came to see what I was doing, told me that I should not be there, and then left me in peace. It is difficult to be sure of the exact axis of the temple from the west end as I could not actually go as far as the "holy of holies", but I did the best that I could. Once the sun had risen I walked down the road towards the Collossi of Memnon and photographed the notice boards. Only at this time of day is it possible to get good images without the sun reflecting on the glass.
I saw Refat Ali near the ticket office - he runs the Pharaohs Hotel and Restaurant beyond the ticket office. He told me that he had 50 guests - normally he has none - so I went there for a Nescafe instead of breakfast. The guests were a party of Cairo University Students - all girls - who were in Luxor for 3 days with their teachers. Today they headed off to Dendera at about 9am.
Then I went to the Qurna market, but more of that below, before spending much of the day at the RRH. In the evening I dined yet again at Fayrouz before posting this blog entry.
