The sail on the new sandal was partly raised. And furled again. Hoopoes visited. The dahabaya, Dona, prepared to leave.
In the evening I met up with Christopher Davies, Director of the Australian Institute of Archaeology. He has been staying at Fayrouz for 4 nights, but was very busy, and our paths had not crossed over the weekend. He worked with David Jeffreys and Harry Smith in the 1970s. Apart from Egypt he excavates in Jordan and Cyprus. The AIA is my best customer, having a copy of every book I have ever scanned for Yare Egyptology. If a disaste happened and I lost my archives they hold my backup! We were joined for dinner also by Judith Palmer, also from Monash University, and Beatrix Gessler from Heidelberg University. A most interesting evening ensued as we all had slightly different but intersecting interests and backgrounds.
