Devlin is the name of a not very well known Irish Whiskey. I don't know if there is any connection.
After my last trip to the "Drinkies" shop next to the Railway Station on Day 53, I e-mailed the head office of Drinkies. A phone call from Cairo resulted in them agreeing to send a bottle to Luxor for me. I heard no more.
Yesterday I called into the shop and there were several bottles on the shelf! The manager was pleased to see me, and insisted on taking a selfie of himself, me, and a bottle of Devlin. I bought a bottle to share on New Year's Eve. At EGP450 (£20) it is not cheap, but if it is any good then it is a fair price. One pays that sort of money for a 3rd rate single malt in the UK, or for a bottle of Johnny Walker Red Label. More for the Black Label from Duty Free.
My main concern is how long it has been aged for. The bottle only gives a production date, which I hope is the bottling date rather than the distillation date. 29th September 2018.
The capsule reads: "Distilled in the Land of Miracles".
It is a very good looking bottle. I look forward to sampling it!
