I checked out Gaddis' bookshop in front of the Winter Palace. One or 2 interesting new books, but I decided that I don't need them.
I collected my glasses from the optician between Luxor Temple and the railway station. He had obtained a pair of small plastic rests for the bridge of my nose. The cost: 10 EGP (less than 50p).
It being too early in the day for dinner I didn't visit Kam Thai, but instead went to Makany Coffee in Gourna. This is about 1km beyond Carter House on the right hand side, large, bright, clean and with a small terrace outside. There I had a 350ml Pepsi Light, and Tayib had a tea and a shisha. Total cost I think was 14 EGP. I assume Tayib's drink and pipe were discounted in some way. The drinks menu and pizza menu form today's slide-show. I will certainly be trying out the pizza some day soon.
General pictures of the café are on my face-book page.
