I booked online, US$17.50 each. Only when I finally got the pdf of the tickets did I spot that the credit-card holder had to be there in person with the card and ID to gain entry. So I guess I am going to Karnak this evening. A beer at Genesis (opposite the Hilton) should pass the time. :-)
But first I will have to call past a Business Centre to print off the tickets. :-( This was actually very easy, and cost only LE0.5 per sheet of printing. There is a business centre near our local mosque. The girl understands a little English and allowed me to use her computer with my memory stick.
After breakfast, around 9am, Helen, Alex, Katy and Pete headed of to the Valley of the Kings. Depending on how they get on they may also go to Ay before I meet up with them at Hapy Habou. Medinet Habu is planned for the afternoon.
But after 3 tombs each plus Ramses V/VI as an extra they retreated to Hapy Habou. I joined them at about 12:30 and they had a light lunch. They decided to skip Medinet Habu today and go for a swim at Gezira Gardens instead. We will meet up again at !745 and go by car to Karnak as I don't like the motor boat landing 'stage' at Karnak especially after dark.
Alex and Katy are hoping to do a balloon trip one morning. The wind is forecast to stay in the N.NW region for the next few days, which will just blow them towards the river, so I'm not encouraging the idea. Tayeb of course knows a good captain and can probably get tickets for about LE300 each. I am posting this early and will update it later, possibly with some pictures!
