Much of today has been used in planning for my son's visit next week. He has multiple food allergies, but I finally gave him an email for Turkish Airlines in Manchester and they are sorting out his meals for him.
He has a friend in Cairo who wants to meet up with him. It took several hours to locate the phone numbers for the bus that runs daily (nightly) from Ramses Square to Gezira el Beirat.
This evening I ate at RRH. A tagine of Ox-tail, with the usual spice-mixture, potatoes etc., Tayeb's wife cooks this really well, but I still find that I can manage only a little. Some Germans had just arrived so we also shared a bottle of Ballantines. I might have to broach a Johnny Walker Black Label for their birthday tomorrow. :-(
Just checked my wallet - I have managed to accrue about LE1000 in notes of LE50 or less, mainly in 10s and 5s. Alex will no doubt find them useful for backsheesh. He doesn't understand that these small notes are like gold-dust!
