In the evening I went to Fayrouz, but there was live Egyptian music playing "provided by a customer" so I did not stay. Rhythmic drumming accompanied by the screeching of an ill-tempered cat is not my idea of fun.
So I retreated to Sunflower, where they were happy to turn off the music that a child was playing with on a loudspeaker. I didn't even have to ask, but the boy seemed less than pleased.
The "Specials" list has not changed, but a price of EGP 150 has been added in for any of the 4 special meals on that menu (as opposed to EGP 60 for the standard menu). I suggested that this was a bit steep but they say that since I advertised their camel and told them where to buy it they have had a steady stream of tourists calling in to eat it. If one is on a 7 or 14 day holiday the higher price is probably insignificant, but I don't like dual-pricing. They will serve me, and other regulars, from the Specials list for EGP 100.
Anyone who follows me on Facebook will already know that I had the fried fish with all the accompaniments. The French Fries were home-made and not from the freezer as in so many places. All very good for EGP 60 (say £2.75) including a dessert.
