So on to Aboudi's where I bought a couple of books. It was after midday by the time I got to Sindbad's, so I found a well shaded corner with a slight breeze to meditate over a Stella. I haggled with 'the owner of a garment factory' over some 100% cotton shirts in my size. After a lot of hard work I eventually got him down to a good price, and I hope there is still something in it for him.
A hoopoe provided some entertainment. One still will follow in the slideshow, but a video will follow later.
Then we drove down the avenue of sphinxes all the way to the outside of the first pylon of the temple of Khonsu (I think). Not many spinxes remain. The outside of the pylon is in great condition so I've included a complete set of scenes.
Backtracking until the avenue bent at a right angle I spotted an area of archaeology. It was still in the distance and gestures were made that I should not take pictures, so there may be only one in the slideshow. We tried. but failed, to approach from a different direction, so I still don't know if it is possible to visit Mut without traversing Karnak. It was only on checking GoogleEarth later that I knew I had located the target.
In the evening there was a long power outage on the entire West Bank. I ate late at my hotel, a Spanish omelette.
