In the evening we ate my duck at the RRH. A woman in Gezira had roasted it in her bread oven, with a mixture of vegetables, herbs and spices I had insisted that it be not stuffed with anything. Being a Barbary/Muscovy duck it was very lean and she had done an excellent job. If anything it was slightly over-cooked for my liking, but it dropped easily off the bones. It was served with rice, okra salad, sun-bread and pickled vegetables, washed down with Scotch and beer. It fed 5 of us amply - with enough left on the carcase for maybe a sandwich. My guess is that the trimmed weight was around 3kg.
The moon is one day from full, with very few sharp details, but I have included a partial image showing craters on the eastern terminator.
