Only LE5 change for a £20 note for the visa - Brexit is playing havoc with exchange rates. The official exchange rate is about LE10.89, but I am told that LE12 is still available unofficially.
Unusually EgyptAir were offering fish instead of beef as their alternative dish. They didn't know what sort of fish, so I played safe with chicken. Turns out it was salmon, but sounded more like "fish - salad".
Luxor West Bank was in lock down in the morning. The president's wife had brought her extended family to see the sites so all roads were closed, no ferries, etc., until 1300. Naturally the locals were not pleased at the loss of what little trade they might have had. I told Tayeb "You complain that President Sisi does nothing for Luxor or Upper Egypt. You complain when he sends high profile guests to visit."
Mohamed abdel Rassoul complete the year's mourning for his father by killing a couple of cows and feeding the village yesterday. No doubt I will hear more of this later.
We did not reach the hotel until midnight. I had just settled down in the garden to a nice glass of Obelisk when the power went out for about 20 minutes. Nothing changes!
