The Windsor Hotel in Cairo have cancelled my booking for 3 nights and airport transfer.
I booked with the Mercure Cairo Sphinx using Hotels4us. They have retained a £35 booking fee, but refunded the bulk of my payment for 7 nights accommodation.
The final stage was Lufthansa. They were only going to offer the tax back but, because of the curfew in Cairo, they had to bring my flight forward, breaking my connection in Frankfurt. As this was not acceptable to me, they have refunded my entire flight except for a £4 credit card fee.
I am very pleased to have been able to unravel this, and hope that Angela has as speedy an experience with Longwood for the main party.
My travel insurance would not have covered me for 'war, invasion, acts of foreign enemies, hostilities or warlike operations (whether war be declared or not), civil war, rebellion, revolution, insurrection, civil commotion or uprising, blockade, military or usurped power'.
I will naturally watch my bank and card statements very carefully, but I think that only minus £39 is a good result.
